It seems like yesterday when the WWE universe was caught by the storm of the “Yes” movement and Daniel Bryan was all anyone wanted to see perform inside a WWE ring. His movement was so powerful that it bled into other outlets like the MLB and NHL and was chanted to get crowds of fans amped for the games.
With the highs came the lows as Bryan suffered a series of concussions and neck injuries due to his high-octane offense. Eventually, he was forced to retire at the hands of the WWE and his loved ones. His efforts to comeback as a superstar to the WWE, as opposed to being the general manager of “Smack Down Live,” have been well documented, as the WWE has held him back because of his concussion history.
Bryan, being the fighter that he is, made the case that he was healthy to compete. His call was answered and he made his return to the ring. The question is, was it too little too late? He was cleared to fight, but the respect factor wasn't there.
The WWE isn’t booking Bryan in matches and storylines that have the same edge they used to. He went from being the guy to go against The Authority to being booked as a middle-to-low card competitor. It looks as if WWE has no place for Bryan and have turned to bigger and better stars as the face of the brand. With A.J. Styles, Samoa Joe, The Miz, Randy Orton, and Rusev receiving all the fanfare from the WWE universe, Bryan should be up there on the list with the rest of them.
The poor booking and lack of excitement in his matches indicates that Bryan's end is coming soon. Seeing him fall from the top of the mountain and get back up is truly inspiring and motivational. He proved to all the doubters that he would come back, but it seems his comeback is short lived. There is no room on the Smack Down roster for him to be embraced, and it is a shame to see his talent get wasted.
It seems like the WWE is reuniting him with Kane to form the team “Hell No” and compete in the Tag Team Championships, which might be a chance for fans to relive the moments that defined Bryan’s career. Although it seems this team could contend for titles, it might just be a gimmick for the WWE universe.
Bryan's sour ending with the WWE doesn’t take away from what he contributed throughout his career. Fans should embrace his presence now more than ever because it seems like Bryan wrestling in a WWE ring won't go on for much longer.
